Aquatics
The Aquatics Section oversees the operation of 19 aquatic facilities throughout the City of Sacramento.    Staff in the Aquatic Section work to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment while offering a comprehensive aquatics program including recreational swimming, swim lessons, swim teams, water aerobics, lap swimming, pool rentals and more. 

Community Centers 
Utility workers are an important member of a center’s beautification team. Duties include clean and monitor facilities and events.  Provide customer service to guests.  Set up and take down meetings and events.  Perform a variety of physical work.

Permitting and Special Events
Our mission in the Special Events Division, is to support the Mayor, Council Members and other City of Sacramento sponsored events. Job duties include:

  • Load, deliver, setup event related equipment. (Examples of equipment include tables, chairs, canopies, and stage.)
  • Assist Police and Parking Enforcement Departments with event related parking needs.
  • Perform a variety of physical work, with the ability to lift 60 lbs. at times.
  • Working primarily outdoors in Parks.
  • Minimum Age of 18 at time of employment.
  • Requires a valid California Class C Driver’s License

The Recreation Manager is distinguished from the next lower level classification of Recreation Superintendent in that the latter has responsibilities for one or more programs within a division. The Recreation Manager is distinguished from the next higher level of Operations Manager in that the latter has responsibility for all divisions within a department and has a broader scope of contact.

Duties require complete knowledge of departmental and program or project operating policies and procedures. The Program Analyst is distinguished from the higher class of Program Specialist in that the latter manages multiple programs of greater visibility and impact.

This classification is distinguished from the Administrative Analyst in that the latter is responsible for internal administrative functions for a department, while the Program Analyst has functional responsibility for a program or project.

Incumbents can work up to 1040 hours per year.  The Crew Leader, Landscape and Learning (L&L) is independently responsible for managing the work of young people including developing job skills, managing tools and materials, working with the public, keeping records of work hours and documenting significant events or issues.  The Crew Leader, L&L leads recreational activities for team and relationship building.
